From 1974 to 2001, Jettie was Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Trustees of the Ohio Historical Society in Columbus, Ohio, where she eventually became the Governors Liaison for Constituent Affairs.
In 2003, Jetties first book was published entitled The Rose Within My Heart (subtitled, Who Shall separate us from the love of Christ?)
In 2005, one-year after the passing of her husband of 41 years, Jetties second book, Doves of the Valleys, subtitled, The Children of Gods Grace, was also published. She is currently in the process of completing a manuscript for a childrens book entitled, Molly.
Since 2005, Jettie has provided web design services to the citizens of Southwest Virginia, and recently received the Gap Partnerships 2009 Business of the Year Award. Her public service activities have included serving as Vice-Chairman of the Big Stone Gap Planning Commission, a member of the Big Stone Gap Terrace Park Log Cabin Committee, and a member of the Big Stone Gap Citizens Cemetery Advisory Committee. She currently serves as an officer of the Tri-State Gospel Singing Convention as well as the Friends of the Southwest Virginia Museum. Her efforts include writing a Marketing Plan for the 2010 Singing Convention and serving as the public relations coordinator for the Friends of the Museum. In 2008, Jettie was Communications Director for the Trinity United Methodist Church in Big Stone Gap and has served as the Big Stone Gap District Communications Coordinator for the Holston Conference United Methodist Women since 2007.
